Owen Nene & Linda Nene

Owen and Linda Nene have been ambassadors for DANCING UNDER AFRICAN SKIES since 2018.

Dr Owen Nene is a rising star in the world of adjudicators, a business person and an academic.

Owen and Linda are fully qualified adjudicators in both ballroom and Latin. They have competed extensively locally and internationally and attended international workshops and training with internationally renowned teachers with a mindset of bringing that knowledge back home. They have transferred their knowledge, experience, and observation into a multi-disciplinary approach to dance. They are coaches and choreographers based in Pretoria and have produced South African champions and finalists.

Their achievements include:
• Represented South Africa in the 10-dance World Professional Championships in Portugal and ranked 17th
• 3rd in the 2019 The Star Championships Professional Master 1 Latin in Italy
• 9th in the 2019 The Star Championships Professional Master 1 Standard in Italy
• Current Professional Latin Champions (under DSSA)
• Undefeated 10-dance Professional Champions (under DSSA)
• Runners-up in Professional Ballroom Championship at the DSSA South African Championships
• Will compete in the World Championships in 10-dance, Latin and ballroom in 2019

Levi Cannon

Levi began his dancing career at 17 years old. He has been teaching for the last nine years and became the owner of his family’s Latin & ballroom dance studio. Late last year, he joined the Fred Astaire Dance Studios group as a franchisee. He teaches standard and smooth ballroom as well as international and rhythm Latin American. He trains amateur couples and individual dancers and belongs to the pro-am community of instructors competing with their students.
 
Levi holds an IDTA Associate qualification in Latin American dance and intends furthering his qualifications in Standard, Smooth and Rhythm and Latin American. Levi is passionate about dancing and teaching dance. He consistently strives to learn and further his skills for personal development as well as to help his students achieve their dancing goals.
 
Levi has been competing as a professional for the last four years. He has achieved high rankings in various regional and national championships. He hopes to be able to compete internationally as a professional in the future.

Kim Lee Isaacs

Kim Lee Isaacs is one of South Africa’s highly experienced dancers and trainers.
 
She was born in Cape Town and started dancing at the age of 7. She went on to become a Junior and Youth Ballroom and Latin Champion. She represented South Africa in many international competitions and won the South of England championships on her first ever trip abroad.
 
Kim started her own dance studio at 17 and qualified at 18. She has trained many South African champions who went on to compete internationally. She holds a Licentiate in Ballroom and Latin and regularly adjudicates competitions all over South Africa.
 
Her dedication and love of this sport has afforded her the opportunity to travel around the world attending competitions, lectures and congresses.
 
Besides running a successful studio, she is a creative arts educator at primary and high schools, where she teaches different dance forms. She is also an examiner for creative arts (dance and drama) at primary and high school level.
