Chairman of Adjudicators: Tyrone Watkins

Tyrone Watkins is an internationally acclaimed producer, director, choreographer and dance lecturer.

He is an ISTD Fellow and member in Ballroom, Latin American and Freestyle. He has lectured internationally at the BDF Congress in Blackpool and the Imperial Dance Society Congress in London.

Tyrone has trained couples to become World Exhibition Dance Champions, British Open Exhibition Dance Champions and US Open Exhibition Dance Champions. He is an undefeated Professional South African Latin American Champion, undefeated Professional South African 10 Dance Champion and undefeated Professional South African Show Dance Champion. He was a finalist in the Professional Rising Star International Championships at the Royal Albert Hall, London and a finalist in the Professional Dutch Open Championships.

Nadia Eftedal

Nadia Eftedal is an internationally recognised champion-level dancer and adjudicator. She began her dancing career at the age of eight in Hollywood, and throughout her Junior, Amateur and early Professional years, she competed in International Standard and Latin. She achieved various Professional titles in the USA, Britain, Germany, France, Japan, Russia and more.
She continues to train top competitive couples, lecture and adjudicate major competitions. She is a World Dance Council-certified (level-A) adjudicator. Her areas of expertise are International Standard and Latin, American Smooth and Rhythm and Choreography.
Nadia is part of the prestigious Fred Astaire Dance Studios National Dance Board in the USA that coaches and oversees instructors’ training and continuously reviews the proprietary dance curriculum.

Michael Wentink

Michael Wentink is a renowned international dance instructor, choreographer and adjudicator, as well as a fashion designer, fitness expert and TV personality.
Michael and his partner Beata was the first South African couple to become World Amateur Latin Champions in 1998. He won many international amateur Latin championship titles, including the International Open, British Open, UK Open and the United States Dancesport Championships.
During his professional career, he became the Japan International Dancing Championships Professional Latin Champion, was 2nd in the US Open Professional Open Latin and was a finalist in the British Open and World Championships numerous times.
Michael and his celebrity partner, radio and TV personality Zuraida Jardine, won the inaugural season of Strictly Come Dancing South Africa. Michael was also a judge on several seasons of the show.

Jeffrey Garza

Jeffrey Garza is a professional dancer and coach from the USA. He is certified as a dual fellow in American Smooth & Rhythm and International Style Ballroom & Latin and is a championship certified adjudicator.
Jeffrey has competed across the USA in American Smooth and Rhythm and has been a champion and finalist in Rising Star and Open Professional divisions at various prestigious events, including the Ohio Star Ball, the Emerald Ball and the Embassy Ball.
He doesn’t only dance and has performed as a dancer, singer and musician on stage, television and cruise liners all over the USA, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. Jeffrey has been a featured performer for Disney and the Rodgers & Hammerstein Organisation, among others.

Salome Sechele

Salome Sechele is a Latin American champion who has mastered a variety of dance styles. She is a former SA 10-dance professional champion. She represented South Africa with long-time partner Tyrone Watkins in Hong Kong, Russia, Germany, France, Switzerland, the Netherlands, the UK and the USA. Salome has been part of the international casts in productions such as Big Band Blast, Simply Ballroom, Latissimo and Chicago. She was a judge on South Africa’s Strictly Come Dancing and worked on TV shows including Backstage, Generations and Muvhango and an array of adverts and music videos.
Salome is a qualified adjudicator and Africa’s first black female chairperson of adjudicators. She has judged internationally in the Netherlands, Slovakia, Zambia and other countries. She is actively involved in choreography, performing and teaching.

Velaphi Mabiletsa

Velaphi Mabiletsa is a respected dance instructor and adjudicator. He holds a Licentiate in Ballroom and Latin and is the owner of Quintessence Dance Studios in Cape Town.
He regularly adjudicates all over South Africa.
In 2010 he was the Fedansa Open Amateur Latin Champion and in 2014 a Professional South African Ballroom finalist.
Velaphi is the treasurer of the SADTA Western Cape branch.

Yulia Kharlova

Yulia Kharlova is an IDTA Ballroom and Latin qualified Fellow (Great Britain) as well as a WDC, SADTA and SADF adjudicator.
Yulia is an undefeated Tomsk Province Latin, Ballroom and 10-Dance Champion (Russia).
She was the South African Professional Ballroom and Latin American Champion from 2009 to 2012, the 2010 Asian Open Professional Latin American Champion (Hong Kong) and a 2010 WDC “Donny Cup” Latin American Professional Finalist (Hong Kong).
She represented South Africa at the WDC World Championships 3 times, in Germany, South Korea & England.

Kevin Juul

Kevin Juul is a former undefeated South African Junior and Adult 10 Dance Champion and a former undefeated Professional South African Ballroom Champion. He was the South African representative to most major international dance events including the World Ten Dance Championship and the World Professional Ballroom Championships.
He has trained multiple South African champions since 1991. Kevin is a UKA Fellow in both Ballroom and Latin and a WDSF licensed international adjudicator.
Kevin is dedicated to the development of dance sport in South Africa and Africa. He travels to Europe regularly to adjudicate, teach and to gain knowledge he can bring home to share.

Kim Lee Isaacs

Kim Lee Isaacs is a Capetonian who started dancing at the age of 7. She went on to become a Junior and Youth Ballroom and Latin Champion. She represented South Africa in many international competitions and won the South of England championships on her first ever trip abroad.
Kim started her own dance studio at 17 and qualified at 18. She still operates a successful studio in the Western Cape.
She has trained many South African champions who went on to compete internationally.
Kim is a Creative Arts Educator at primary and high schools, where she teaches different dance forms.
She has travelled around the world attending competitions, lectures and congresses.
She holds a Licentiate in Ballroom and Latin and regularly adjudicates competitions all over South Africa.

Khutso Khunou

Khutso Khunou holds a Licentiate in Ballroom and an Associates in Latin American. He is ISTD London, SADF and SANCBD qualified.
He has represented South Africa in competitions in China, Austria and England.
He was a Blackpool Dance Festival Finalist and achieved 5th place in the Professional Rising Star Latin American section in 2003 and 2004. In 1998 he was an U/21 Latin American semi-finalist at the Blackpool Dance Festival.
In 2004, he was a quarter-finalist in the Dutch Open Professional Latin American Championship.
He was the South African Professional Latin American Champion in 2008.

Peet Pienaar

Peet Pienaar started doing Spanish dancing in the 1980s. He started teaching social dancing in 1995 and joined Fred Astaire Dance Studios as a part-time teacher in 1996. He has also received training in modern dance, ballet and jazz.
Peet is still a Fred Astaire instructor and a franchisee of the Fred Astaire Dance Studio Northcliff in Johannesburg. Peet holds international Licentiate qualifications in Ballroom and Latin American and is also a qualified scrutineer. He has adjudicated and officiated at various competitions in South Africa and neighbouring countries, including provincial and national competitions. 
He is the National Examiner for the subject Dance Studies for the Department of Basic Education and a member of the United Kingdom Alliance of Professional Teachers of Dancing and Kindred Arts and the British Dance Council.

Dante Bertani

Dante Bertani is the highest qualified Fred Astaire professional in South Africa. He joined Fred Astaire in 1989 and holds Fred Astaire Gold Supreme, Supreme Major, Theatre Arts, Exhibition and Choreography, Examiner, Adjudicator and Scrutineering qualifications. In 1997, he qualified as regional dance director for Fred Astaire.
He is a franchisee of Fred Astaire Dance Studio Northcliff in Johannesburg.
Dante is a well-respected instructor and regularly adjudicates at a variety of competitions, including national and provincial competitions.
